Reminiscences

As part of his research into the history of Dumbleton Hall Mr Martin Grafton (a director of The Post Office Fellowship of Remembrance) wrote to the Duchess of Devonshire who is one of the "Mitford Girls" who were reputed to have visited Dumbleton Hall during the inter-war years.    Martin has kindly allowed us to reproduce the correspondence generated by his initial letter to the Duchess.

True to her word, the Duchess' sister (the widow of Sir Oswald Moseley) replied within a few days.

Next  came a letter from Joan Leigh Fermor.

Towards the end of February the Duchess wrote again with more information.

As promised by the Duchess a reply was received from Lady Harrod in April.
