A Very Narrow Escape

A Very Narrow Escape, - A very strange occurrence took place in this village on Monday last, and Mrs. Larner, of Bank Cottages, had a truly marvellous escape. She was engaged about her household duties when a little boy came into the room, and the door slammed to behind him. This caused a gun which was loaded to explode. The muzzle of the gun was close to Mrs. Larner's head, and the discharge set light to the curtains in the window and smashed the glass. Fortunately Mrs. Larner was untouched, but she was of course greatly alarmed, and Dr. Halliwell, of Winchcombe, was fetched, as she was very much upset. She has now practically recovered from the shock.
