The Village Hall - The First World War

During the First World War the hall was used as a hospital for sick and wounded servicemen.   A plaque, set into the wall beside the main entrance, commemorates this use.   A total of 667 cases were treated between May 1915 and November 1918.  During the Second World War it was used as an annexe to the school to accommodate the number of pupils increased by the influx of evacuees.
