Born in 1607 at Wichenford, Worcestershire, the eldest son of John and Eleanor Lygon Attended Balliol College, Oxford, where he gained a B.A., M.A. and B.D.He married Dorothy, the daughter of Samuel Fell who was Dean of Christ Church in Oxford and they had a large family, one of whom died at about 17 weeks of age. This child, Richard, has a memorial tablet in Dumbleton Church low down on the chancel wall just inside the rails. This child was born when Dr Thomas was 73 years old !Dr Thomas died 6th May 1687 and was buried in Gloucester Cathedral. There is a memorial tablet to him in the cathedral on the north wall. He held the living of Dumbleton until his death. In June 1650 his salary was £ 140 per annumThe handwritten will of his brother William is in the Bodlean Library in Oxford.
